MAJOR STUDY PUBLISHED IN THE LANCET: Chicago native Dr. Dino Samartzis, now based in Hong Kong, was part of a research team which had an important study published April 19 in The Lancet, one of the most influential medical publications worldwide which only on rare occasions publishes orthopaedic, neurosurgical or spine-related advances. Dr. Samartzis’ team addressed the first report on the safety and efficacy of a new surgical treatment for children with scoliosis (spine deformity). Now based in Hong Kong, China, Dr. Samartzis attended Loyola Academy in Wilmette, IL and obtained his undergrad degree from Northwestern University. Dr. Samartzis is currently an Associate Professor at the Division of Spine Surgery, Department of Orthopaedics & Traumatology at the University of Hong Kong, and honorary Assistant Professor for its Department of Anesthesiology.
