ON-AIR HISTORY AT WGN RADIO! WGN 720-AM on June 28 christened their brand new, state-of-the-art 7th floor studio and the very first newscast was delivered by news anchor Andrea Darlas. Her delivery was flawless per usual. The behind-the-scenes crew toasted with champaign and it was a classic Chicago radio moment!

Editor’s note: Last month Chicago Tribune columnist John Kass was assigned by his editors to visit Greece and Turkey and report on his experiences, a series they dubbed Kass’s “Odyssey.” He interviewed the Ecumenical Patriarch of the Greek Orthodox Church, paid a visit to his father’s ancestral homeland of Rizes, went to Athens and Istanbul, and wrote an entire week’s worth of commentary in his page 2 front section column. Last week the Tribune hosted a sold-out public forum where readers joined Kass and editor Gerould Kern to discuss the experience. The Greek Star caught up with John after the post-trip forum and he graciously expounded on a number of related issues of interest to Greece, Greek Americans, Chicagoans, and Americans in general.
Northwestern University grad Aristea Brady, who has many relatives in the Chicago area, recently began as a reporter on the weeknight 10 pm news at WCCO Channel 4, the CBS affiliate in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul. For the previous two years, she was weekend anchor/reporter at KUSA Denver. While at NU, Aristea worked at WYCC Chicago, CAN-TV, and Evanston Community TV.
