Sunday's general elections results brought a sigh of relief to the country’s business community, which underlined that “businesspeople and the society demand the formation of a cooperation government with a pro-European orientation”.

Constantinos Mihalos, president of the Central Union of Chambers, commenting on the election result, said it offered the country’s pro-European political parties the opportunity to form a strong government –a unique opportunity for the country to move ahead in this extremely difficult period and noted that political parties should not leave this opportunity go wasted.

Vasilis Korkidis, president of the National Confederation of Greek Commerce, said the election result clearly showed Greek people’s choice in favour of a strong, multi-party government.

Eleftherios Kourtralis, president of the Textile Federation of Greek Industries, said it was imperative to form a strong government, comprising of politicians and technocrats which will urgently implement all necessary reforms.

“The difficult part begins now,” the Federation of Hellenic Enterprises stated in a statement.

Commenting on the election result, the Federation said Greece must now negotiate its future after exhausting citizens’ tolerance and its partners margins. The Federation said it was prepared to play a very active role in an effort towards the nations recovery.
